SPEED Ferret reports that an Access Service Release is required

SPEED Ferret 4.1

Symptoms

When creating or activating an Access 2000 project, SPEED Ferret reports that Access 2000 SR-1 or above is required. SPEED Ferret refuses to work with the version of Access 2000 that is currently installed on your system.

On some systems, when you open the Help>About dialog box in Access 2000, the dialog box may erroneously indicate that Access 2000 SR-1 is already installed.

Cause

The initial release of Access 2000 contained bugs that could result in the loss of certain property values when other property values were changed programmatically by a tool such as SPEED Ferret. In order to guard against the possibility of such loss, SPEED Ferret requires Access 2000 SR-1 or above.

A bug in the Office 2000 SR-1 setup program could cause the Access 2000 Help>About dialog to display incorrect version information. This problem is described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base articles:

Solution

Install the Office 2000 SR-1 Update. If you have already done so, and SPEED Ferret still reports that SR-1 is not installed, then you will need to run the Office 2000 SR-1 Update again.
