Problem

SPEED Ferret versions 4.0 and later are designed to work with the Windows Installer service. The Windows Installer maintains information about each installed program in the Windows registry. If this information is somehow removed or modified, you may encounter problems when you attempt to uninstall SPEED Ferret.

Solution

• Download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility from Microsoft's website.
• Use the utility to remove all information about SPEED Ferret from the Windows Installer section of the registry. The utility will not remove any of the SPEED Ferret program files.
• Reinstall SPEED Ferret in the same folder where it was previously installed. At this point your SPEED Ferret installation should be back to normal.
• If your original goal was to uninstall SPEED Ferret, you can uninstall it now using the Add/Remove Programs utility in the Control Panel. All program files and registry settings will be cleanly removed.

Note

The Windows Installer Cleanup Utility was originally intended for Microsoft Office users, but it will work for any program installed by the Windows Installer, including SPEED Ferret.
