Case Western provides a LEGO MindStorms system

The Engineering department at Case Western Reserve University has provided our club with a LEGO MindStorms system on a long-term loan basis.

Case hosts a LEGO MindStorms robotics competition for high school students each year during Engineers Week. This year's competition is scheduled for February 22, 2006. Our club is invited to attend the event as competitors or simply as observers.

A MindStorms kit is provided by Case to each high school expressing an interest in the competition. The people at Case would like us to consider building a robot to compete in their competition, however we are not obligated to do so. We can keep the kit for as long as we like, as long as we are seriously considering future participation.

Here is a photo of the kit provided by Case.

And here is a photo of Matthew Crowley and his friend, Alannah. They drove all the way from Cleveland, OH to Allport, PA to personally deliver our kit!

Matthew is studying Computer Engineering at Case, pursuing both a bachelor's and a master's degree at the same time. He has graciously offered to give us a tour of the Engineering facilities at Case if we choose to attend this year's competition. Among the things that we could see are the university's computer chip fabrication lab and a real WWII submarine that is docked at the waterfront that we could explore inside and out!

Matthew, you're a great friend to our club, and we really appreciate your help! Case Western is very fortunate to be represented by someone with your optimistic enthusiasm.
