Harpster's of Philipsburg donates $400

Members were thrilled to learn during the Nov 23, 2005 meeting that Harpster's of Philipsburg had donated $400 to the Engineering Club.

The club wasted no time in putting a portion of the funds to good use, voting later in the meeting to purchase a LEGO MindStorms 2.0 Robotics Invention System. The club had already been learning about robotics through tutorial sessions provided during meetings. But until now, the club did not have the funds to purchase a robotics invention system of its own.

Special thanks go to Mr. Doug Harpster who, after learning of our need, actually took the time to go online to determine the price of a LEGO MindStorms system. He also extended an invitation to our club to visit his manufacturing facility, located near Mid-State Airport, where we can see a demonstration of their Panasonic robotic welding system.

It is gratifying to know that our community is blessed with people like the folks at Harpster's who want to help young people to explore and consider careers related to Science, Engineering, and Technology.
