Engineering Club Meeting

I. Called meeting to session – 2:43 p.m.

II. Officer reports
• President: Happy with number of members present.
• Vice President: none
• Treasurer: Received $25 donation from River Hill Coal Company.
• Recording Secretary: none
• Corresponding Secretary: Wrote thank you letters. Haven’t been mailed yet.

III. Old Business
• Recording Secretary read/summarized last meetings minutes.
• Bought Lego kit.
• Membership list isn’t finished yet.
• Still adding to library.

IV. New Business

2. Field Trips
a. Hybrid Cars and Crash Testing—a video is available for us to preview these activities and then we can make tour arrangements if desired. Mr. Snyder is working on getting the video; trip may be in a couple months.
b. Program committee will pick field trip options that they feel are most interesting and beneficial to the club.

3. Case Western University
a. Received second Lego kit—which is ours to keep if we participate, observe, or plan to have future involvement with Case Western University’s annual Robotics Competition.
b. Received details about competition.

V. Role of Mentors
a. Workshop
• The IEEE will provide funding if our club has workshops.
• Workshops would be a time for the community and students to get together and mess with electronics (possible purchase of electronics kit).  Members from the community that are knowledgeable in different areas could volunteer to lead a presentation, etc.
• A recommended volunteer: Rodney Smeal
• We would take things apart and learn how they work, etc.
• Will be discussed further at the next meeting.

a. If any members are missing meetings, they are encouraged to visit the web page.  Minutes of each meeting will be posted.

VII. Jaime Quick moves to close the meeting at 3:23 p.m.  Wesley Boyd seconds.
