Meeting Agenda Treasurer Status of our account – fundraising, expenses, current balance Mr. Snyder Status of stethoscope project, schedule for completion Discuss reasons for low attendance at workshops Mr. Snyder Expense report for IEEE stethoscope project President Vote to reimburse Mr. Snyder for IEEE project expenses Mr. Snyder Overview of future activities: Feb-Mar Fire-Fighting Robot Contest Contest is Saturday March 31, 2007 (leave at 6am, return at 10pm) Do not need to build robot to attend competition as observer Separate divisions for grades K-5, 6-8, 9-12, college & beyond Can use LEGO MindStorms or any other technology you wish Requires significant commitment (9 workshops plus some time at home) Apr-May Possible End-of-Year Activities field trip guest speakers (engineer, ER doctor) Engineering Club Open House (parents, sponsors, general public) Engineering Club display in showcase (stethoscopes, robots, posters) free workshop time: finish stethoscopes test stethscopes and discuss ways to improve the design equipment dissection and component harvesting experiment with motors, batteries, lamps, buzzers, speakers, etc. experiment with breadboards and electronics parts experiment with oscilloscope, observe various types of signals experiment with MindStorms robotics kits sort resistors and label resistor cabinet drawers Mr. Snyder Demonstration of working robot that locates and extinguishes a candle Mr. Snyder Brief introduction to LEGO MindStorms programming Members Form robotic teams, pick team leaders, choose names for robots Mr. Snyder Estimated expenses for robotics competition (lumber, sensors, motors) President Vote to authorize purchases for robotics items Possible Guests Home schooled student and parent(s) Mr. Amarjeet Basra
